Can I sue the government (IRS) for emotional stress?
every year I get splitting headaches at tax time because of the unfairness and unnesassary paperwork. Then I worry for the next month that I will get audited or that I paid too much. Is it normal to hate your country this time of year?

MarcyMay
I can't say that I hate the Country, but I am in the middle of an audit and I defiantly hate taxes. (I don't think you can sue but you can make sure to get all your deductions in order).

Wayne Z
You can sue anyone for anything. The real question is: Can you win?

The answer to that is: No.

No, to put it bluntly. Google the Federal Tort Claims Act and then take a couple of Tylenols.

That is how I felt years ago when I use to do my own taxes. Now I have someone who knows more than me do them. At least the amount you pay to have them done is deductable. Otherwise years ago I would have said I am joining you. I think they this on purpose. There has to be an easier way than this....

NOPE
And it's not IRS's fault, it's Congress which keeps passing new taxes and new exceptions, and new credits and deductions and so on and so on

Then don't pay them. There is no actual law that states that one must file an income tax return. Ask to see it. They won't be able to show it to you. Nobody will. Know why? It doesn't exist.

Watch America Freedom to Facism. It will reveal some shocking truths. ie: The Federal Reserve isn't a part of the U.S. Government. It is a privately owned and operated bank.

Ms. Angel..
no! next year be better prepared and save yourself the emotional stress.Federal Taxes are due every year by the 15th of April.

The problem is that you wait until tax time to do your taxes.

If you do your taxes incrementally -- starting now -- by documenting tax-related activities as they occur then, next tax filing season won't give you a headache.

By the time next tax filing season gets here, your taxes will already be done. The long pole in the tent will be just waiting for your employer (and anyone else who withheld taxes) to send you the correct paperwork.

Paperwork already done, tax liability already known, why fear an audit if you've done it right, and you'll know that you didn't pay too much. All results in no headaches!!!

And on top of that, you'll still love your country.
