Unfortunately, you're going to have to file an amended return. It's not difficult. If you go to the IRS.gov website, you can download the form you need. If you filed the 1040a, search for the 1040x. You can also call the IRS. I've found them to be extremely helpful in the past. |

first of all .. anyone sending you anything has until jan 31st , so you should of waited.. and YES you can deduct it off your federal tax return |

You'll have to wait and do an amended tax form, then they will send you the remainder of your refund. It happened to me once and I got another $500.00 |

This is why you should of waited to file until you received all your information. Now you will have to amend your tax return, but wait a couple of weeks in case IRS catches your mistake, if IRS doesn't catch the mistake and gives sends your refund, wait to cash it until after you file and amended return and you know you won't owe, if you owe IRS will request all their money back so you will have the refund available to turn over to IRS. |

The best thing to do is go to H & R block and they can help you out. It is better to get answers from a professional. They gurantee their work and will pay any fees in incorrect filings. |

it may depend on who filed your taxes for you if they were e-filed it may be too late call h&rblock i think they give free advice |
