You can but only if you make special arrangements with the bank. A cheque is "an unconditional order, in writing" - I'm sure a sad law student will finish that for you as its a bit long winded.
There is a big advantage with using rats as they may become bank managers and never get charged to your account. |

A cheque was made out om a pair of ladies panties. Why not be really offensive and send a cheque on your well worn skiddy boxers. The thought is delicious, but I'm sure there is some law somewhere against it, and even if there isn't, some feminist at the council will have a touch of the vapours at the sight of male underwear. As I understand it, you could write out a "bill of exchange" on a rat, which is essentially the same as a cheque. However, the term "cheque" in common usage requires the bill of exchange to be written on the piece of paper provided by the bank. A company willing to accept cheques is probably not willing to take "bill of exchange rats," and I would expect the council to similarly refuse.
Official cheques are mainly used rather than any old bit of paper as it is difficult to forge a proper cheque, but very easy to write yourself a bill of exchange from someone else's bank account. |

Yes a cheque can be made out to almost anything. The thing is the bank proberly wont cash it if there is no account in that name. |

I heard about the cow too but some years ago.
I think rats is a great idea though there must be no cruelty involved because they are really sensitive, intelligent little beings.
But....anything to shake up the council, the taxman, the bank etc. is worth considering.
