Though I am in agreement with other answers but would like to add further that
A person may have more than one PAn card (not no) in the following situations
-a person may have been assessed in the capacity of HUF,
- a partner of the firm need to have additional PAN no for the firm,
- a company is seperate from individual assessee and a seperate PAN card requires,
- similarly Society, Trust etc have seperate PAn no and card.
