Depends on your situation. If you owe the govenment any kind of money, and I mean any kind, they will take it. If there is a court order for a certain company to be allowed to take your money, then yes. Otherwise, they can't do anything with your tax money. |

They can take it if they have followed the proper channels (legal wage garnishments) but you would probably have been notified at this point. Have you had previous wage garnishments, from your employer? Also if the money you owe is to the state, feds, or city/government entity (ie. school/student loans, EDD unemployment/disability judgments, unpaid tickets, unpaid back taxes).
However, maybe it is a good thing in the long run. I know that does not sound good now, If you need the money to live on. Perhaps it well settle whatever debt that you owe, and stop the bill collectors from calling you. Hang in there, and Good Luck! |

Only if they have legal judgment to garnish your wages and/or tax refund. However if you are in default on student loans, owe back child support, or owe back taxes the IRS can deny/take your refund. |

It cost to file a lien. If this debt is large, then perhaps, but if the debt is Small I doubt it. Have you tried working out a payment plan? Don't destroy your credit stay current on all debts if possible. This is very important to you especially if you want to purchase a car or home, T.V. and etc. |

If the bill collector has obtained a judgment against you, then yes, they can take your income tax refund via garnishment. |
