No there is a test case on so all claims are suspended, but you can still send the letter in just nothing will be done at the moment.
BTW all banks charge you for failing to manage your bank account correctly so if you go overdrawn in this one the same will happen. Learn to budget and stop using the banks money. |

Well, from experience I can tell you...
1. People that work in banks will generally tell you no!
2. It's down to what you are being charged for.
3. Your old bank may try and only repay part charges.
For info you can go to:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges
It has letter templates etc...
I threatened my bank (The Abbey) with court action for over-charging and they paid up.
Usually the mere threat of court action is enough to get some payments returned as banks do not like the bad publicity.
Good luck. |

Yeah, you can. Get in touch with bank-smart.co.uk They got me my charges back from 2001, all of £548.94, they did take like £149 quid something for themselves. Still worth it... |

You have to write a letter to the bank explain what you are going to do, and they send you out the right forms out to you, it takes about 6-12 months from start to finish sometimes quicker.
Good luck |

the banks are currently contesting people doing this
mean while the best thing to do is go in your old bank and request a charges statement, you are allowed to claim 6 years worth,
you will be asked to pay 10 pounds for this
take it home or when you recieve it, underline all charges you want back, and get it all photocopied, then you can send this off to get charges back
the problem is no one knows how long this will take, but when you get your charges statement through the post it will explain what to do next
i dont know how to do links but the best one to explain all this in detail is martin lewis his www.moneysavingexpert,com
he has all info on there
best wishes

Only if you charges are unreasonable, over £12 each.
I got mine back, just wrote a letter stating the date and the amount they owed me. Have a look online, there are sample/template letters you can use. |

The whole business of claiming bank charges is on hold for the whole country at the minute due to a legal test case against the banks to see if the charges banks are making are fair and legal, it should be resolved within the next 12months, but you can still make a claim it will just take a while to complete the claim.
Go to www.recoverbankcharges.com, and put "Dana Ellis" in the "How did you hear about us" field and he might do you a good deal as he is a friend of mine.
Good luck |

i think you can still claim.
you could look on the GMTV website and click on the financial advisor, there it will be under the heading of bank charges. He gives you a copy of the letters you can send to the bank and step by step advice.
Good luck, it's by time these banks learnt that not everyone is made of money |

You should be able to claim them back, as this is classed as excessive, but you would have to contact an org like the citizens advice bureau, to advise how is best to go about this if you look in your yellow pages or at yell.com you can get the number to your local one, this is better than a solicitor as it doesn't cost anything. xxx |
