You should have not resigned. Your employeer may have said there is no job anymore but he is responsible to ensure that you are offered another job in his employeement or made redundant by him

He cannot sack you unless you have done something wrong.

Its sounds like you resigned in haste. I sugest you go to the citizen advice for find a soliciter as this seems to easy for your employeer to get ride of you.
If he made you redundant he would have has to pay you redundancy and the government wold also possible contribute to this. What has happended is unjust and I think you need to investigate this on the fact that you resigned probably in a wrong sense of mind.

Yes you can claim Jobseeker's Allowance straight away. If you have resigned from the job, your entitlment to JSA may be affected, but it usually takes a few weeks for the decision to come through. You are paid JSA until the decision is made. If it goes against you, you could be sanctioned for up to 26 weeks (worst case scenario).
As your employer told you that your position was no longer available, it may not even be sent for a decision. The question is: from what date was your position no longer available? Straight away? Or was he giving you a notice period? The Decision Makers would need to establish this.
Ring the Jobcentre on Monday, and put in a claim to Jobseeker's Allowance.

GO TO AN AGENCY,

If you go to an agency you could be in work again in the next week.

I was laid off from an employer and I went to an agency, and got work in a warehouse to pay the bills and then looked for work while I was working for an agency.

If I can do it, Anyone can....

Go to an agency!

I wonder if you can take him to an industial tribunal for constructive dismissal.

I wouldn't call that resigning! Phone the job centre and make an appointment.

You may not get job seekers allowance, but you can get income support- which amounts to much the same thing- so nothing to lose there. If they refuse you jsa- immediately ask for income support.

You should not have resigned. Will your employer say he was going to lay you off.good Luck
