Can i file for taxes with only public assistance ?
i dont have a w-2 form can i still file for taxes

avgjoe
why? have you paid anything in taxes? If not then what would be your reason to file a tax return.

If you receive a 1099 that states how much you receive then you could for a stimulus like last year.

if you haven't paid any taxes there is no need. There is nothing to get back or pay.

Additional information
The federal law does not require someone who is getting social security or public assistace to file taxes if they are not employed or do not recieve any monuatary gains from investments or rental property.

No, if your only income is public assistance you have nothing to file on, public assistance isn't taxable. And if you are thinking that you could get EIC, that's called the EARNED income credit because you have to have income from a job.

You still have to file the taxes even if you were on Public aid. There is various types of help available even for filing. Contact your nearest IRS offices and they will guide you. Visit them and they will put you in touch with a right help for your needs if you qualify.

You can always go directly to the IRS office located nearest you and have them file for you. This may be the best way to go in this particular situation although it is generally NOT advised to allow the IRS to complete an individual's tax return. You may get some ideas from the website listed below.

filing has nothing to do with how much you make or where the money you get comes from..
it does help in determining how much tax you will have to pay
its about reporting to the IRS your income status
even if you made nothing you are required to file..
besides.. if you don't.. you wont get any stimulus checks
