You are unlikely to get a Refund Anticipation Loan if you don't have a social security number. |

Proof again that HR knows little about taxes. An ITIN is a taxpayer ID number used by people who are not eligible for a Social Security Number.
Some tax prep places do give loans based upon an expected refund from the IRS, however most times someone with income reported on an ITIN will not have paid in any taxes so there would be nothing to be refunded. You'll have to bring your tax information to the various tax prep places and have them evaluate your situation based upon their criteria.
The truth is that most of them will probably NOT loan money to someone who uses an ITIN since they probably don't have credit established in the US and basic credit worthiness is a requirement for the loans these days. While most banks won't lend to someone without an SSN, there is no legal requirement that you have an SSN to borrow money in the US. At least one major bank -- Bank of America -- explicitly does NOT require an SSN to borrow funds. |

I believe that banks require a Social Security Number in order to get any of the loan products. |

I think this is a poor idea, but H&R block is giving loans if you have a pay stub. The reason it is a poor idea is the interest rate charged is several hundred percent. |

Take in your information for your tax return to any major tax preparer chain, and you may qualify for a Refund Anticipation Loan. The amount of the loan will depend on the antipated refund. They will help you determine that.
However, I advise against doing a Refund Loan, because you will be paying fees that are extremely high, comparable to the amount of time you are borrowing the money.
If possible, wait until Jan 31, and file your return electronically, which will get you your refund within a week. |

You need to contact the financial center where you want to borrow money from and ask them specifically about their requirements. I think as long as you can prove you have income and you have a good credit rating, you're good to go. Be careful of loan offers and companies online whose legality you cannot verify. Go with a company that is known or your bank. |

A "TIN" is a company's Taxpayer ID Number. You will file using your SSN, Social Security Number. Based on your question I will assume you don't have a lot of income. I would recommend that you file your taxes and forget about an advance. The interest you will have to pay on the advance and the advance itself will cost more than your return.
When you get your W-2, file on line free with the IRS, not one of those tax companies that take money from you. The sooner you file the faster you get your return. If you have a bank account the IRS will send it there or send you a check. Direct deposit is faster |
