Yes you can file Married Filing Separately, however. you will not qualify for EIC or Child Tax Credit. |

Yes, but it is almost always far better financially for them to file jointly. |

You can but avoid it. Married Filing Separately is the least desirable filing status to use. Married Filing Jointly is usually the best option. Try it both ways and you will see for yourself. |

Of course they can. Ask your tax adviser the best way to file, joint or separate. |

Yes. I just got my taxes done the other day. But to be very honest with you, you get more money when you file together. |

You can file separately. But you will almost always benefit by filing jointly. For one thing, the standard deduction is much higher for married filing jointly.
Figure your taxes individually, then figure a return filing jointly and see what the difference is before you decide. |

You can file Married Filing Seperately and as some one said, cannot claim EIC and Child Tax Credit. Also, if one spouse uses Itemized Deductions, the other HAS to also use Itemized Deductions and that might result in higher taxes as well.
On an average, MFJ is more beneficial than MFS |
