YES! just be careful, all he needs to do is have their ssn and say that they live with him and he'll be able to get that MONEY!!

Maybe. Does he contribute to their financial well-being? I mean, are they dependent on him??

krissy
yes he can as long as no one else is claiming them.People do it all of the time. And make sure he gives you some money lol

Marie H
No. He is living in your house and they are not his legal dependents.

OFFICER SEXY PEACH
you can claim your own kids and file head of household and be eligible for the earned income credit and additional child tax credit,it don't matter that you didn't work much,as long as you had earned income.

i advise you to use the tax calculator on h&r block website and put in your info to see how much you'll get back.i don't think your cousin will qualify for the credits if he claim them,so it's best you do.

only if he can prove that he has been supporting them. But it might be better for you to claim them you may get more money back on your own than having your cousin claim them.

No.

no

If your cousin has had your children living with him for more than six months last year, he probably can claim them.

Judy1
If your cousin provided over half of their support for the year and lived with them ALL year, he might be able to claim them as qualifying relatives - that means an exemption, but no child tax credit, EIC, or anything beyond the exemption.

If YOUR total gross income for the year was over $3500 then he can't claim them at all, since they'd be your qualifying children even if you don't claim them.

As usual with a question like this, you have plenty of wrong answers. And the person claiming all the education apparently missed something (and the rules did change a few years ago) since his answer is wrong.

Tox
I'm pretty sure it's yes, and if so, you definitely cannot claim them.

thomken2
no if they do then when they look through it, they will do a full audit on both of you. the parents have to claim or whoever has custody of them

yes he may as long as no one else is claiming them and he provided at least 50% of their support

No, I wouldn't believe so. Just check with a tax company.
