Chris R | Can somebody show me the law that says I have to pay an income tax? |
1) No, I'm not a tax protester.
2) Yes I'm asking because of information I've heard from a tax protester.
3) No, Title 26 does not specify that YOU have to pay an income tax, nor is the IRS tax CODE a LAW.
4) The 16th Ammendment was never ratified.
and
5) What do you think about the film, America Freedom to Fascism where numerous IRS agents, tax lawyers, and congressmen have come out and said "There is no law that you have to pay INCOME tax". If you haven't seen it, I highly encourage you to watch it and get back to me on it.

Same drivel 4 times in one day. I think we have a record, folks!
1. I don't care if you're a tax protestor or not.
2. I'm not surprised about that!
3. You obviously have not read Title 26! And FYI, that's the way that LAWS are annotated once they're passed into law! For example, Title 12 refers to banks and banking. Title 27 refers to intoxicating liquors and Title 49 refers to transportation. Try taking a Law 101 course and get smart on the terminology. (A wise old boss once told me, "It's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Wise words, indeed.)
4. There are law libraries full of proof that the 16th Amendment most certainly WAS ratified. Only a tax-kook would claim otherwise. Only 36 states needed to ratify the Amendment for it to pass. 42 did ratify it, making any claim (usually Ohio but sometimes Tennessee or Arkansas) that a few states didn't ratify it properly a moot point since even if you throw all three of those out, you still have a 3 state margin of passage.
5. I've seen the movie. It's bombastic, to say the least. It was produced by a fellow tax-kook of yours who owes a LOT of $$$ to the governement and is trying to get off the hook and avoid prison. He's also under court order to stop selling his lies as fact. He's still selling his videos, but he's stopped selling his instructional kits under the threat of going to prison.
The clown offering the $2 million award has no intention of ever paying it to anyone, since he's dediced that he's the final arbiter of the truth. Something he even fails to admit to from his jail cell.
And you put faith in these CLOWNS despite massive proof that their positions are total idiocy? For your sake, I hope you don't fall into their trap; they really just want company in prison, nothing more... |

THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I SAW THEM ON THE INTERNET:
Nobody ever really landed on the moon - it was a giant hoax. What you saw on TV was filmed in Utah.
Elvis is still alive, and performing marriage ceremonies in Las Vegas.
It is unconstitutional for the government to tax your wages (income tax), and most of what we think of as income isn't really income anyway, and anyway, the 16th amendment was never ratifed.
Excuse me now....I just won 2 million pounds in the online UK lottery when my email was randomly selected, and I have to go answer the email..... |

Go ahead and not file a tax return, or file it and not pay taxes, or file it with the various tax protestor arguements written across it, and let me know 2 things. 1 - how quickly the IRS contacts you, and 2 - what jail you get sent to. Oh yeah, I forgot one more - 3 - how much the IRS fines you. And you know what, if you did manage to get the $2,000,000, the IRS would want their share of that. rofl. |

First, all of your arguments on taxes are specious. Bostonian answers all of your points correctly. I just wanted to add something.
Title 26, Subtitle A, Chapter 1, Subchapter A, Part 1, Section 1 does specifically indicate that YOU have to pay taxes on income.
If you don't think that the U.S. Code is law then you don't believe that Title 29 is a law either. Therefore, your employer doesn't have to pay you a minimum wage. Your employer can make you work 80 hours a week without overtime. I guess any other protection under the fair labor act doesn't apply to you either. |

I'm not sure where you get the idea that the 16th Amendment was never ratified. 42 states did just that! This would be enough even with our 50 states now, but there were only 48 at that time. (Takes 3/4 of the states, as I recall!) If you're going off some of the technicalities of ratification used by tax protesters, they've all been rejected by the courts. |

I not sure. How I see this, if, we not pay taxes we not have a military, if, we not have a military then we will not have to pay taxes but tribute to the Dictator that take over the country.
We can drive down dirt roads too, I love to go Four Wheeling. |

This is the 3rd time I've answered this in as many days. Your tax protester friend is going to get you in trouble if you fall for this.
If you weren't doing anything wrong by not paying your taxes, then how can the IRS take you to court for it, or even for trying to scam them?
How can they enforce fines, penalties, and interest if you didn't owe them the money in the first place?
How can they garnish your wages, and take money directly out of your bank account, if you didn't really have to pay them?
Don't you think someone would have caught on by now and reported them if they weren't allowed to collect taxes? Someone would have said "Hey, there's no law or anything giving them the authority to take my money! They're robbing me!", and the entire IRS would have been shut down?
Or, that the very courts that they try other people in for breaking the law, some judge would have said "Gee, this person's doing nothing wrong; they don't really owe you that money; this person's completely innocent."?
Your friend's wrong. The 16th amendment was ratified in 1913. Here's a link to the IRS website and history of them:
http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=149200,00.html
Get your facts straight, then quit listening to this type of nonsense, and keep on paying your taxes. Or, you could move to a country where they don't have to, or they pay minimal taxes, and see what type of place you end up in. Or better yet, listen to their argument, don't pay the taxes, and see what type of place you end up in THEN. I'm pretty sure it'll be something with bars. |

Visit the IRS site.
Do you really think that if it was not a law everyone would be doing it?
Sorry, I would look it up for you but I don't think I will waste my time. It is law, so look it up yourself... |
