Can you cancel your Social Security number ?
Can you legally cancel your Social Security number without applying for a new one.

Bases on the fact that the Irs is unconstitutional and Social Security number are specifically for IRS purposes is there someway to be an un-numbered person
Additional Details
I should leave the USA you say.. I did I've been an expatriot 7 years...
About renuciateing citizenship well I was born here in the USA and have a right to a democratic opinion and that includes not likeing the government we have and fighting for my Constitutional rights.

Now you tell me one law that states we must pay the IRS ?
You can't because there is not one

Agana F
good luck on that one...ever try to get a mortgage, or a new car...credit runs off your ss# .....how about the license branch...they like my # too....banks want one, if you want to open an account...its just a huge conspiracy, and if you can figure out how to become invisible once you're visible, i'd like to know the secret please!

bostonianinmo
No you cannot.

Where you get the idea that the IRS is unconstitutional escapes me. There is no truth in that whatsoever. Please do NOT listen to the idiot Tax Kooks and their outrageous claims. They will only get you in serious legal trouble.

Even attempting to raise that issue in court will almost certainly attract an additional fine of up to $25,000 for raising a spurious issue in your defense. The typical fine for this action runs around $10,000 for a first attempt at raising that as a defense. The reason for that fine is that that issue has been so clearly and convincingly debunked as fraudulent that the courts will penalize you for wasting the court's time if you attempt to raise it.

Addendum: You claim there's no law? Poor fool. Google Title 26 of the US Code. That is the law. And if you think that it isn't, take a basic Law 101 course.

A wise old boss once told me, "It's better to be though of a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." Sage advice, I'd suggest that you consider it carefully.

Addendum 2: Actually I HAVE studied the issue extensively for over 41 years now. You, on the other hand, obviously have not. The fact that you have even raised the "Tax Kook Defense" is clear and convincing evidence of that. And your claim that the courts always side with the government is absurd on its face. If that were the case, Brown v Board of Education would never have overthrown the "Separate but Equal" doctrine and Roe v Wade never would have given women the right of choice in abortions. Please, GET A CLUE! (You don't even know that Supreme Court justices are nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate, not elected! And the current court was NOT entirely appointed by the Bushes. Of the current court, 2 each were nominated by Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton, and Bush Jr. and one by Ford.)

If you think your claim has any merit, please cite ONE court case that backs your claim. Be forewarned that I WILL tear your argument to SHREDS with excerpts from the trial transcripts!

THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I SAW THEM ON THE INTERNET:

Nobody ever really landed on the moon - it was a giant hoax. What you saw on TV was filmed in Utah.

Elvis is still alive, and performing marriage ceremonies in Las Vegas.

It is unconstitutional for the government to tax your wages (income tax), and most of what we think of as income isn't really income anyway.

Excuse me now....I just won 2 million pounds in the online UK lottery when my email was randomly selected, and I have to go answer the email.....

Your question is based on an incorrect premise.

The IRS is not unconstitutional. What makes you think that it is? The constitutionality of the income tax has been challenged in court by tax protesters many times since 1913. They have never won!

Edit-----
You need to go back to your shrink and have him increase or decrease your meds. You are not firing on all cylinders currently.

The income tax law is called "Title 26". Look it up. It has been posted here many times.

I don't believe there is any way to "cancel" you SSN. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do without one (if your living in the US) You need them to apply for a job, get a loan, attend college, etc.

You may not agree that Social Security numbers are used for identification (which I agree, was never their original purpose) but the facts are, you can't do much without using one.

You can refuse to give out your Social Security number to anyone for identification, but be prepared!

Kailbean
dont apply for one in the first place.

IT'S ME AGAIN
you poor child, are you seven??? your number is yours for life, you cannot cancel it, no one else can have it, its yours and yours alone, if you called the ss office and asked to cancel it the guy on the other end would die laughing...........

that s a good question. I think the only way for your SSN to be cancelled is for you to violate something that has to do with the US residency, like join the armed forces of another country, or be deported.

Gary
Just become a citizen in another country. Simple as that. I bet you will get a new number and it will not be call a social security number either.

Nope, once you're numbered, you're numbered forever. :) Sorry.

Also, don't believe that hype about the IRS and taxes being unconstitutional. You'll never win that argument.

Why would U even try to cancel it? People will laugh at you for trying cause you can't. People might just call the FBI on you cause it's kinda of Leery thing trying to do. Only they can change it for you if you can figure that out.

♥♥The Queen Has Spoken♥♥
Social Security numbers were first developed for the purpose of Social Security Benefits.

The number has become an easy way to identify individuals as easy number is unique to one person only.

Once issued it's yours for life. It's the law that each person by the time they are six months old have one.

RT 66
Not anymore...I can't even get my daughter a birth certificate because I refused to register my child at birth. So, get her a number or she doesn't exist. Income tax was supposed to be a temporary fix...people should know better...once the government finds an easy income source, they keep it forever.

Okay, so you've been an "expat" for 7 years, probably haven't filed a tax return in any of those 7 years, but still hold onto your US citizenship with a passion. (In common lingo, an expat is anyone who lives and works abroad; in tax lingo, an expat is someone who has given up their citizenship and is no longer taxed by the IRS....)

Were you ever planning on coming back to the US? Were you planning to bring any new family with you?

Immigration does have a tendency to start asking pesky little questions like did you file your tax returns each year. And they are not amused when you say you didn't have to because it's unconstitutional.

if it was soo unconstitutional, you are free to leave the USA...why don't people realize that.
