If your total medical expense (that you have paid) is equal to a certain percentage of your earnings then you can write off part of it. Read the instructions for form 1040, and it will explain what that percentace is! (The key is not that you have been charged a certain amount, but rather that you have PAID that much). You can, in some instances also claim the amount you pay for health insurance...the difference is before tax dollars, contrasted to after tax dollars for the cost.
As per heyteach, that percent is 7.5% of your adjusted gross income! |

Sch A form 1040 top section, and every thing related, such as insurance, doctors, dentist, perscriptions even mileage. It is all deductible the year you pay it. This form contains a lot of other deductions also, that replaces your standard deduction and usually decreases your state tax also. Gail Seymour seymourtaxmoney@yahoo.com 580-762-7458 |

If you paid a lot you can use it as a dedcution. Just make sure it comes to more money than your standard deduction or you may lose out. |

Yes, but you should combine all medical expenses not otherwise reimbursed. There is a minimum threshold amount that must be met for anything to be deductible of 7.5% of your income. You should see an accountant. |

Assuming it meets requirements (as in for health reasons, not looks), yes IF you have spent 7.5% or more of your AGI on your allowable medical expenses. |
