Can you get a replacement p60 without going to your previous employer?

In the UK you can only obtain a duplicate P60 from your employer, and it must be clearly stated that it is a duplicate.

You Cannot get a replacement P60 (end of year tax statement) at ALL! only 1 is ever issued per tax year.

if you mean a P45 (leaving tax statement) then this CAN be obtained from either your previous employer or the Tax office that your employer dealt with. BUT its takes a lot of work and often MONTHS. The Tax office is more likely to put you on emergency Tax code to the end of the current tax year than try and replace the P45..

Tax forms generally should be looked after as often its impossible to get them replaced.

unfortunately there is only 1 P60 every year for each person, you should keep them safe for 5 years before throwing them away, you could ask the tax office for details of your P60

Tax offices can't issue replacement forms P60, as that is a legal form supplied by an employer. The tax office is sent a copy of the form, but these forms are now kept centrally, and staff in local offices can't access them. The National Insurance Office enters details on HMRC records from their copy of the form, but that information takes forever to go through the system.
All I can suggest is asking tax office for a signed letter setting out details on headed paper. Too early for this to be done for year ending 05/04/08, the speed things work, you may have to wait until Christmas. You could probably get P60 details for the year ended 05/04/2007 now.
Were you with previous employer as at 05/04/2008? If you left before that, you wouldn't get form P60, as form P45 would have been issued.

HMRC cannot issue a P60 to you, but they may already have the details on your records as your employer should have sent them in then issued you a P60. However, if you need the details yourself, you can ask your tax office to send you your pay & tax details for that year but it won't be a P60.

Your employer has a legal obligation to provide you with a P60 although a Statement of Earnings from your employer would serve the same purpose if they cannot issue a duplicate.

There is no such thing as a replacement P60, a copy of that document is held by the Inland Revenue,if submitted by that
employer.Contact that Dept, depending what U need it for,
but contact them anyway, giving the reasons why U need it,&
if in fact U ever received it

Phone your tax office and they will send you one, but if your wages were paid from a different area you will be best to call the tax office there e.g if you get paid from a head office in a different part of the country
