Depends on the situation, but if the offense is bad enough, yes you can.
If you simply don't file, they will come after you with fines at first. However, if you intentionally commit fraud to try to avoid paying taxes, they can eventually get you put in jail because fraud is a crime. |

Just look at what happened to Al Capone. They couldn't get him for murder or other illegal activities, but he finally went to jail for eleven years for tax evasion. |

Yes, think Al Capone.
If it's not a big infraction and it was simply a mistake rather and a deliberate attempt to commit fraud, you'll probably just pay a fine. |

You sure can. There is a loop hole where if you can prove that you honestly thought you didn't have to pay you won't go to jail, but you will still have to pay. Note if while trying to prove you don't have to pay you say its because taxes are unconstitutional you will receive a rather hefty fine. Pay your taxes, they can seize your property and throw you in jail, not cool. |

In severe cases, especially when you're not reporting income, yes. In most cases, the IRS can have your wages garnished if you don't pay, which means you really wouldn't have a choice in the matter. |

Yes, the correct term for the offense would be "Tax Evasion" |

Unless your Timothy Geithner and working for the Obama administration, yes you can go to jail for not paying taxes. But it really all depends on the severity of the issue also. |
