DEXTER P | Can you skip one year of filing your taxes and do them in the next year together.? |

NOPE. Each year's tax return is filed separately from other years. And if you don't file and pay tax when due, you are liable for penalties and interest from the IRS. If you're owed a refund and don't file, you only have 3 years to file and claim it.
Filing an extension gives you extra time to file a tax return, but does NOT extend the time to pay any taxes you owe. So best to face the music and file rather than sticking your head in the sand, as it will NOT make your problem (whyever you don't want to file) go away, and it will make it worse, with penalties and interest when you finally get around to doing it.
So failure to file if required to file makes you guilty of tax evasion, and you know Al Capone died of STD in prison after his conviction for tax evasion. . . . . . You can file 2007 taxes without penalty up until 4/15, and can do it online. Past year's taxes have to be paper returns, mailed to IRS. |

Your supposed to file taxes every year, However,..Other then forgoing the use of your money for a year there would be no IRS penalty if you file a year late and are due a refund..If you owe money to the IRS you will be hit with interest and penalties when you file (or if/when they catch up to you).. You can file your return up to 3 years after it was due, after that you would loose any refund ...You can not combine two years of income and expenses in a single year. Each years income & expenses must be filed for the year incurred.

If you don't owe them money, they won't care. If you do, you better file |

Nope. |

You can't be serious? Can you imagine if millions of taxpayers did the same thing? Pay your taxes on time. |

No. Even if you didn't file for a previous year, you'd still have to file each year separately, not just add the two together. If you make enough money to be required to file, then you are legally required to file by the deadline for that year, in April. |

No. If you do you will owe penalties to the IRS. You will pay interest on the amount you owe (if you owe) starting april 15th. that can add up!
Plus it might be painful for you next year and have to find all the paperwork |

NO but you can file for an extension if you need longer than April to file them. |

Yes, you can skip filing for year. No, you cannot combine years. If you are owed a return then there is generally no penalty. If you owe they will pursue throughout the year, you pay interest and penalties. If you are not filing due to owing this year I would recommend filing a return but sending no or little money. You avoid the penalty for not filing but will still owe the interest. The IRS has gotten much better in recent years of taking payments, especially if you file on time and do not try to duck them. Good luck! |

no...
you must file annually. |

You can skip and do it the next year.
But you must file each year separately using the correct forms and law for that year.
If you we, you could end up getting penalized.
If you are owed money, you have to file within 5 years or you have no claims to the money.
True, you don't have to file at all. However, if you are found to owe money you will still be guilty of "Tax Evasion" or "Tax Avoidance", whether you filed or not. |
