Can you still file your tax from the previous year (2005). i forgot to file mine last year..thanks...?

You do NOT want to fall behind filing your tax returns.
File your 2005 return ASAP and get it done...otherwise the IRS will be relentless in trying to collect from you and they will add higher penalties the longer you go.

Trust me.

Yes you can, and are required to. You can download the 2005 forms at irs.gov.

If you owe taxes for 2005, you'll pay interest and penalties. If you have a refund coming, you'll get it, and there won't be a late-filing penalty.

bostonianinmo
Yes.

If you have a refund due there will be NO penalty for late filing if for no other reason than any penalties are based upon the unpaid tax and if you're getting a refund there is no unpaid tax.

If you have a balance due, there WILL be a penalty due as well as interest from the due date of the return.

Any tax year that you have not filed a return for is still considered "open". There is no statute of limitations on an open tax year and the IRS can go back to ANY open year and assess taxes due from that year. There is no "5 year rule" as one other poster stated.

Yes you can. If they owe you money, no problem. If you owe them money, big problem.

Yes you can file a 1040x which is an amended tax return or file the regular 1040EZ, 1040A or 1040 for that particular tax year. If you owe taxes you might get penalized but usually people don't owe, they pay too much in through paycheck withholdings so you might get a refund. You should always file a return.

Yes, you'll just have to pay a late penalty.

Oh yeah, you can. You'll have a nice little penalty. Check the site below and follow the links that apply.
