This would only give you the amount in total from the dates you have given, as it's the end of the financial year on April 5th.

You will need to re-do the online questionnaire, after 5th April to give you a more accurate figure to see what you would be entitled to for in the new financial year.

Modern Major General
Tax credits ar always based on the previous financial year; for this year which ends on 4/4/08 and commenced on 5/4/07 the earnings for the year 5/4/06 to 4/4/07 were considered.

In short, you will always be one year behind.

Your award for the year 06/07 is the one you mention - the one you now need to tell them about is 07/08 which will give your award for 08/09.

By phoning the relevant number on tuesday, giving your NI number and income details, you should be able to establish new terms for the coming financial year.

Good luck.

not sure if i was you i would call them in the morning

That's just for March, then they'll have to work it out again. Tax credits are extremely complicated and even HMRC get it wrong. The £244 is probably for the whole of the tax year 2007/08. Ask your local Citizens Advice Bureau to check the calculations for you. (I've got the program, but I'd need to ask you a lot of questions).

Sounds like it's £244 from today until the end of the tax year (5th April). Sounds good - nice bit of extra cash!

The website questionnaire just gives you an approximate amount that you could get based on your circumstances. You'll probably have to phone them to get everything sorted. You won't know for definite what money you will get until you receive the confirmation details in the post.

this is the amount ur entitled to for the rest of this tax year but they will reassess based on last years income and tell u the new amount. when they write to tell u what u are entiteld to they explain what they will pay and on what date. get yr application in asap as they cant backdate beyond the date of yr application form.

The £244 is until the 5th April 08. You can do it again just manipulate the dates/wages a little for the next tax year figure for a rough estimate.

Remember that it starts from the day they recieve your application. Good Luck also some people are entitled/exemped from dental/prescription charges/ free school meals because they claim these benefits.

it refers to the month up until the end of the tax year. they may want to reassess your situation after April.

not sure. i think from what you have written, you will get that amount of money as a one off payment from 24/3/08 - 5/4/08. there should be a phone number for you to call so you can get this claryfied. tax credits all depend upon your income. a friend of mine gets £150 odd a month, i get less than £45 a month. to receive £244 a month is a lot of cash - my friend earns a fair wage but doesnt get anywhere near that amount. if you are entitled to that though good on ya!
