savethewhale | Child tax credits surely this can't be right? |
I have reapplied for child tax after splitting up from my partner.I posted the forms over two weeks ago, they have no trace of them.I phoned on Friday and they told me they would send out some new forms incase they couldn't find them in the next few days and to ring back today to see if there is any sign of them.I phoned this morning,no joy still no trace, then was told even when the new forms come that I can't return them for another 11 days just incase my original forms turn up.Is it me or is this madness.By the time they sort all this out,I will have been without any child tax for weeks.I also should add that I have five children and we are living on £80 and trying to sort out unpaid bills from when I was part of a couple. Additional Details Joeybinx....do you have the website where I can view who signed for my tax forms when I resend them? |

I agree with hotgirl here - and do what I did and send them via recorded delivery - for an extra 66p or thereabouts - might cost more to send but worth it to avoid all the problems! Then you can see who signed for it online too! |

just fill them in and send them, it really doesn't matter if they recieve dupicates because they both have the same in fo on them, if you are worried pop a note saying that it's the second set because the first appears to have been lost.
Let them sort it out at their end. |

Sounds about right to me. probably sitting on sum employee's desk somewhere.
the social have emergecy loan facility, you show them your bank is empty etc & tell them Why you're struggling and they may arrange a loan to take out of your future money.
how on earth do you find time to work & get child tax credit, with five children ???
i always post things of importance, like that form, by recorded delivery, that way, i get a signature of whose received it & what time .. it ony costs an extra 00.80p or something, saves all the stress. |

It is a chaotic system.
Bear with it - you will get all the back money in one go when they do get it together. |

sounds just like all the news stories you hear about tax credits, so it appears to be 'par for the course' I'm afraid! |

trust me when I tell I'm not in the least bit surprised.
I've been shafted by this lot 3 times despite 14 phone calls to check the details were correct. 14 times I got told they were correct. We now have reduced money from them cos infact they were overpaying us, we even put a load of money aside to cover this, but that wasn't enough cos we shludn't have got anyhting at all bar the standard rate. You wait, they'll pay you for both claims soon, then ask for the money back from both.
Its a foregone conclusion. |

As you have sent forms off is there a tax office near you if so go down there and fill one out there and then they cant say that they haven't received it but you will get the back dated money back they have to pay you good luck . |

You need to get to your local DWP or local Tax Office STRAIGHT away. If you are at the DWP tell them you need to be fast tracked ASAP. If you are at the tax office request an interim payment.
You have a right to these
They will fob you off all they can because the computer runs their lives.
DO NOT let them do this. They have a responsibilty to you and your kids.
Stick your grounds in eithwer office and refuse to leave without an interim payment at least |

Sorry to hear about your hassles but this does seem about right for this "government"
See if there's anyone you can take a short term loan from. Try not to go to a bank so you don't get charged interest unless it is the only option available to you. |
