I don't see why not!
Have you established a S.S. number for your baby yet? |

Congratulations, Mom!
You'll need to get your baby an SSN through your local social security office...for which you will need a birth certificate.
As long as the baby was born during December, you get the dependency exemption for the 2007 tax year. |

Yes, you can claim the child in 2007
http://taxes.about.com/od/dependents/a/Dependents.htm
Here is a website that explains it in plain English....a little easier to follow than reading IRS regulations |

yes you can, www.irs.gov from the FAQ:
My son was born on December 31st. Can I claim him as a dependent? If so, will he be also qualified for the Child Tax Credit?
If your child was born alive during the year, and the exemption tests are met, you may take the full exemption. You may be entitled to a Child Tax Credit for him. Please refer to Publication 501, Exemptions, Standard Deduction and Filing Information. Please refer to the Form 1040 Instructions for information about the Child Tax Credit. |

All children born on or before 12.31.07 at 11:59:59 are eligible to be claimed on the 2007 income tax report. Check the IRS website for the information you need. |

You can claim if your child was born anytime in 2007 for this years taxes. You will put birthdate under the names of dependents column on page one of your tax form. |

Yes. Just get the booklet for the taxes. Probably 1040a or 1040 tax forms and booklets. It will give you instructions on what and how you need to complete the papers. You can find them in the libraries, on-line, at the post offices, and so on. |

Ms. Angel..

Congrats.
Since your child was born before 12/31/2007, you will claim him/her on your Federal Income Tax return.
Visit IRS website: www.irs.gov for more information, look at publications etc. |

Absolutely. As long as you have his soc. sec. number, there is a place to list dependents right under where you put your names.
The 6 month test is not used the year a child is born. For more info check the IRS website. |

Four tests will qualify a child to be a dependent
These rules enable you claim a child as a dependent.
Qualifying Children
To be claimed as a qualifying child, the person must meet four criteria:
Relationship — the person must be your child, step child, adopted child, foster child, brother or sister, or a descendant of one of these (for example, a grandchild or nephew).
Residence — for more than half the year, the person must have the same residence as you do.
Age — the person must be
* under age 19 at the end of the year, or
* under age 24 and a be a full-time student for at least five months out of the year, or
* any age and totally and permanently disabled.
Support — the person did not provide more than half of his or her own support during the year.
Some Tips about Claiming Qualifying Children
The qualifying child must live with you for more than half the year. More than half a year means, at minimum, six months and one day. |

I can claim I got pregnant, but you better have some proof that baby was born o 12-7-07 |

I believe the tax returns stipulate that the child must have lived with you for at least six months of the year in order for you to claim them. You look at the form you're filling out and it has instructions right on it. You could also call a local H&R block and just ask them. |
