Absolutely NOT! You can only claim a child that was born before 12/31/2008 on your 2008 taxes. Now of course you still have the 2009 tax year to look forward to. Maybe that's what she meant? At least I hope so. Congrats on the baby!

You cannot take an exemption for a child until the child is born.
