bobert n | Could the USA survive without property/income taxes? |
If we abolished property and income taxes, but also all welfare programs, could we (the USA) still support our military, education, etc? Assume that we pay our debts off, then could we? Additional Details Instead of paying for federal assistance, that money would go to paying things the prop. and income taxes paid, if this was needed |

No, couldn't support military, or even government overhead.
No, paying off the debt would still not be able to support military, government, etc.
We'd be ore or two trillion dollars short. |

Short answer - no. Welfare is not as much of the budget as you think, and income tax is by far the largest source of income. |

Sure, as long as other taxes were established to replace some of those. Otherwise, where were you thinking the money would come from to pay for things like the military and education? |

No, of course not. And you seem to think that traditional welfare takes up a majority of the Federal budget. That's a common misconception and is not true at all.
Without an income tax, the principal source of Federal revenue, how would you propose to support the military? And without property taxes, how would you support education? |

Yes, with a national sales tax. Here's some info.
It's called a consumption tax. |

No still need to pay for military. Social Security, Highways and Bridges. Plus the politicians need to be paid. |

We could survive without income taxes without a doubt. Only 1/3 of the governments income comes from your income taxes. If we were not blowing 5 billion dollars a week fighting a war of oil the cost would replace all income tax in the United States. Our government sucks income tax is unconstitutional as is. By dismissing income and property tax we would not have to get rid of welfare or the military or education programs |

Yes someone we survived without the income tax before 1913. Abolishing the property tax and income tax would force the government to spend responsibly and obey the Constitution. Limiting their income is how citizen can control their government, eliminate wasteful spending and prevent tyranny. People go on about how the military needs to be funded but it wouldn't take that much if we weren't supporting the Federal war mongering global empire. |
