depends on your local council. & what they charge.

search for your local council web page

lil_kat_the_brat_girl
You would find that information on your local council website, as the price differs depending on the property type and the area that you live in.

Band A is the least expensive band, but the amount varies from place to place. The best thing to do is to contact the local council and tell them which area you are enquiring about.

The average Band A in the south east is currently being charged around £1000 a year and the exact amount depends on the local authority and their charging requirements. The law gives you the opportunity to pay over ten statutory payments from April through to January. This leaves February and March usually as payment free months. So a £1000 annual bill would calculate as £100/month over ten months. Bear in mind that if you are the sole adult occupier, you may claim a 25% discount and in addition council tax benefit may apply if you are on a low income.

Depends on the area and council involved. There are 4 authorities involved, County council, local council. police and fire brigade. .All are different so a single figure for a band A property is not possible to give exactly. Anything from £900 to £1100 per year. Monthly a tenth of this. ( £90 to £110 a month)

Councils set a total tariff for the area (within government guidelines) this tariff is then divided between the bands (I am not sure if some sort of prorata system is used within the banding) but the costs will depend on the number of dwellings in total and the number that have to share the 'share' for the band.

Also I think there is inconsistency in the banding. a four/five bedroom house may only get a band B in one area but an A in another.
However I would guess it will be in excess of £1500 pa

buster
Please note the band rate does not include any discounts given. eg 25% discount for single occupier
etc.
I live in Bristol and dont know anybody in band A
Likewise band A in London prob does not exsist.

check out this web sites.
type in a post code to see what band pople are in, often the same type of house in the same street are in diff bands.
England and wales:

Scotland

All bands are based on property value in 1991. unless they are new or have been exstended.
hence:

Council Tax Bands at 1991 Property Value

Band ENGLAND

1991 Property Value

A All properties under £40,000
B £40,001 - £52,000
C £52,001 - £68,000
D £68,001 - £88,000
E £88,001 - £120,000
F £120,001 - £160,000
G £160,001 - £320,000
H over £320,000
