Council tax?
we want to move somewhere for 6 months and so only want to pay it for that long, and then after that we might go abroad. Do you have to pay for whole year (cant see why as it would be unfair) or is there a special scheme??
When you move in you'll be charged as if you were living there the whole year, when you move out they'll work out your bill down to the exact length of time you lived there, right down to the days. They'll then bill you for extra you owe, or refund you if you've paid too much.
Frogman
You'll be billed monthly. If you want to pay it all in one go you can. Please slip the total amount under my front door at midnight tonight.
ChocLover
You can pay monthly but if I were you I would advise the council of your intentions otherwise they may think you are trying to dodge it!!

If you move out of the property youmnotify the council that you no longer live there and give them your new address. You only pay for the time you live in the property.
