Council tax increase? Politicians please read this........?
Soon the working class people of the UK will no longer be able to afford to live in a house. I work full-time, pay £500 rent a month for a tiny flat as i cannot get a mortgage for anywhere decent, pay £150 council tax a month which leaves me with under £100 to live on a month. Things are going to get worse now there's yet another increase in council tax. The UK government have got things so wrong. Soon we'll all be living out in the street with nothing and sleeping rough. What next? Go to work and recieve no pay? Does anyone else feel completely ripped off and angry???

I agree - this country more or less encourages people to go unemployed (claim housing benefit, council tax relief)..... its us suckers who work hard all week and have nothing left to play with that suffer.

I agree everything goes up, train fares, gas/electric/water, yet theres these single mothers in their council flats near me, always got a fag in their mouths with kids in good clothes or football replica shirts. About time we had another poll tax riot.

Be aware that this government is intent on making us serfs again. We are descending into the pits. Blair doesn't want us to have any spare money, he wants to know where we are and what we are doing at any one time. The mans a control freak.
Soon we'll be back to where our forefathers were in the 1100s, slaves to the rich. We may as well give Blair our wages and then stand in line for pocket money.

WE MUST GET RID OF THIS LABOUR GOV.BEFORE THEY DESTROY US> .THEY MUST BE VOTED OUT AT THE NEXT ELECTION.

Yes mine has gone up another ten pounds within one year,I am running at a loss all the time with this country,I have to buy food with money I havent got .Pay the Mortgage etc all on Incapacity Benefit .It seems to me the only way to get on is to stick two fingers up to the world and not want to work this way every thing is paid for and your benefits ie dole etc is your spending money for pleasure,Its better than winning the lottery for some people !!

What do I get for my money but a whole bunch of trouble, its ridiculous, the government are all scared of travellers, and wont kick them off the green belt land........I could go on and on,

I had better step down off my soap box now lol

Anyway they say its to help pay for the Olympics

Yes our mortgage is £750 a month, Council Tax £115 plus all our water rates, TV License, Gas and Electric and Nursery Fees, I am literally left with less than nothing, we have to hope that my partner gets overtime in order for us to get shopping.

Its a sad state of affairs when the working class can hardly afford to get by, and the people that live for free in council houses dont go to work, and still manage to smoke 20 a day and dress their children in Dior or DKNY Clothes.

Come the revolution all politicians will be up against the wall first.

Yep!

I work nearly 60 hours a week in 2 jobs and pay horrendous tax rates because I work 2 jobs. My council tax is also increasing by about 4.25%. At this rate I'll be mugging old people in the street just to get by! It doesn't help when the blood sucking bailifs give you no lee-way to help pay off an outstanding debt.

Life sucks in the UK!

Ammo
It is terrible and with bills and shopping on top of all that. Perhaps the government want us all to pack in our jobs and get council houses and claim benefits - maybe then they will reconsider what they are doing. If they increase it again I feel that a lot of people are going to get into major difficulties - I have seen on one road by me 2 houses up for auction where they have been repossessed

Ok so you've had your little rant. Now I'll have mine. Where do you live? In the central part of London? Why not move somewhere cheaper?

I first read your question as implying that you earn about £750 per month net. But this would be £9,000 a year, or £11,000 a year gross. You would then be entitled to benefits of about £3,400 a year so my assumption must be wrong or there are other factors involved.

But a lower income would mean increased benefits and your net would not change that much.

So there is more to this than at first appears. I think you should direct your anger at whatever it is in the system that puts you into this position. Blaming council tax is not the answer as I am sure you know.
