How on earth do they get away with this?!! Are there any laws in regards to benefits that would say that once they married they are definitely a couple? They claim from 2 houses (both paid for by US as she is a 'single mum' and he is 'too sick to work'. They have been reported so how are they still doing it? Will the marriage change things-ie make it harder for them to get away with it? |

Yes the marriage changes everything.
It is possible to live together and not be a couple and to live apart and be a couple. The law looks at how you run your affairs and how your family and friends perceive your relationship. If you get married then it is quite obvious that you have a mutual living arrangement which is regarded as a relationship by your peers, therefore you can not claim as a single person.

If they have been reported it is possible that they are under investigation. Report them again and try to get someone else to report them. Also consider going to the media about it, (local newspaper). |

These cadgers have to be caught cohabiting before they can be prosecuted, the special squad set up to deal with these parasites need proof they actually live together, it's a sham but if they both sleep in their seperate dwellings but spend their days together they aren't breaking any laws so can't be brought to boot, although it's obvious they're cheating the system, the benefits people would certainly question them and warn them but these people are so unashamedly thick skinned it's like water off a ducks back, I know of several who buck the system, and the snoop squad can't do a damn thing about it. this country needs a complete gut out and a strong government. .. bring back Maggie |
