If your daughter lived with her parents for more than half the year, is age 18 on 12/31/2007, and did not provide over half of her own support, then the parents will claim her as a qualifying child.
The dependent daughter can have wages up to $5,350 (her only income) and not be required to file a tax return. However, there probably was federal tax withheld from her pay, and the only way for her to get this refunded is to file a tax return. She will file single with zero exemptions. |

Geez, as usual with this question, you've gotten a real collection of wrong answers. Ninasgramma as usual is correct - all the others are either totally or partially wrong. |

she has to file. if she is a student, you can claim her. that will change how she files. |

She probably should file a return, regardless of whether she HAS to or not. If she paid any taxes, and she's under the threshold, she may be able to get a refund.
I THINK you can still claim her as a dependent, as long as you still provide the majority of her support.
The best source to answer all of these questions is the IRS (assuming you're in the US). Go to IRS.gov, and look for a faq. |

As long as she lived with her parents or was a full-time student. The daughter will have to file her own income tax. |
