I have Bank of America. Does anyone know if they are slower or faster at processing the funds?

I used taxact.com to file my taxes this year. I filed on Jan 22nd. Taxact.com has always said my refund will be dd on Feb 6th. IRS.gov has had a date of no later than Feb 3rd. From what I understand the IRS only does dd on Fridays. This morning I checked my account and nothing in there. I then checked the IRS.gov WMR and it now has a date of Feb 10th. Ive read many posts on here saying that the IRS is not giving out answers to why this is and that they are sending out dd in batches today. Does anyone know if this is true? I think there are a lot of us in the same boat here! Seems to me a lot of people went thru this same thing last year! Gotta love the IRS! |

I do not believe that the problem is with EIC. EIC has been around forever and the fraudulent claims have been around forever and will be determined in the same way they always determine it.
The problem was with the Recovery Rebate. Every year, the IRS has to reprogram their processing code with new tax changes. This includes approx. 55 million lines of computer code that makes the program work. This year, if there was a mismatch with what the IRS computers had as a taxpayers expected amount for this credit and with what the taxpayer had reported, the code automatically sent the return into the "Error Resolution" department instead of handling these type of errors as they normally do - zeroing out this amount to resolve later and processing the refund less this amount (which in most cases will be between $300 - 1200). Therefore, they had to manually "resolve this error" and then place the return back in to the normal processing queue. Basically, a lot of people screwed up their return (which is normal) but more importantly, the IRS screwed up their code. |

Don't expect your refund today if you claim EIC. From what I've found, several media outlets are reporting the IRS is holding tax refunds while they investigate taxpayers for fraud...due to false SSNs and such...this really angers me, since I was initially told my DD would be in my account today as well, Jan 30. If you check the IRS site it should give an idea now when to expect it. My DD has now changed to 2/24/09!!! Soooo many people like myself are very angry. It seems to be those of us with EIC and expecting large refunds. Good Luck!! Will you please post if/when you did receive your refund, that may help those of us still in limbo... |

I also get EIC and according to WMR it should be there today. Although my bank doesn't post tax refunds until after 12 pm.
The IRS is having a lot of trouble because of the stimulus checks. Well, at least from the people who are not claiming the correct amount and trying to cheat because they feel they're reducing their refund if they do.

My deposit is supposed to be today as well. I tried to call my bank, but they are closed (they say). Im sorry you are dealing with this crap as well. I guess its the waiting game, it should be there today or soon so hang in there! |
