My son claims it (having been disabled from an early age). It is essentially an allowance to keep you mobile and, if at all possible, employed. It is not means tested. Here is a guide. http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/benefitsinfo/disability_living_allowance.htm
By the way, you should take advice on filling in the application form. It is by no means straightforward, any more than is appearing before a tribunal and trying to explain the nature of your disability and how it affects your life. I do hope that you succeed. |

By far the best place to go is

They are on our side rather than the DSS staff who's aim seems to be denial |

You will be able to get dla even while your working ( and it doesnt matter how much you earn either), my hubby broke his leg in three places and had to have a big operation to put it right . now he cant walk as far cant stand or sit for too long, he like you is still working as he would be board stiff staying at home all the time! luckly his employers have been brilliant .
You need to ring your local job center they will either send you the forms out or give you the claim phone number. how much you get depends on how disabled you are! but they should provide you with support for mobility as well and will pay for any adaptions you need making to your home. you may well be entitled to a parking permit as well. |

Yes you can - but its a hell of a haul now as a new entrant- Your local jobcentre ( and dont be upset by this- they have to house this chap/ chapess somewhere) will have a Disabled Employment Advisor who's role is to help people with conditions stay in work as well as get peaople work- He /She would be a good first start and may have further advice. |

HI I think you have to be off of work to be able to claim disability.allowance, you can register as a disabled driver for your blue badge but unfortunately the living allowance is for those on say income support to help pay for prescriptions and things like that or, like myself, my husband is working so we cannot claim any benefit so i do pay for any medications i need out of the living allowance and yes it is expensive .It would pay though to contact the disability payment office and find out for sure if this is right . |

You will also be entitled to the disability element of the working tax credits |

I am now going through the same thing and all they really want to know is can they stop you from getting it.
I am suffering from Spinal Stenosis and have given the a full copy of the letter from the surgeon who is about to operate on me in the next few weeks.
I get a letter back from them asking how long I have been like this and what do I need in the way of care, well i can still walk and talk and feed myself so care is not an issue there.
The last and silliest question which Job Centre did you get your claim form from. |

Yes you can it doesn't matter if you are working. It is graded by how far you can work without significant risk or distress. I imagine you will qualify for the higher rate. |
