Do Food Stamps or WIC Negatively effect you tax return/refund?
Since I have pretty much quit working my husband and I qualify for food stamps, and WIC (just had a baby) and I we cant decide if we should go get them because we dont want our tax return to be messed up at the end of the year, so does it effect how much your refund is? Or do you end up having to pay more at the end of the year?
Receiving Food Stamps or WIC does not effect your tax return in any way. There is no place on the tax return to report it.

Don't think they affect you negatively. The main thing that affects your taxes is your income. You may receive more or less based on the amount you both brought in last year. WIC and food stamps can be good resources for you and your baby. Congratulations! Good luck.

no they don't affect your tax return at all, you don't have to claim it anywhere on your forms and tax professionals won't ask about it either.

I was on both for the first few years of my daughters life and I always got a good return and was never negatively affected by either.

State assistance will not affect your refund. Receiving cash assistance, food stamps and/or WIC is not taxable when you file next year.

What you get from collect from your local governments will not affect your tax return in any way. Go ahead and collect them.
