Do I get a stimulus check if I have no income to report for 2007?
at the end of 2006 my partner quit his job and went back to school and I have been supporting him since.

My question is would he still be getting a stimulus check with no reported earnings for 2007? I'm not sure how the income effects the check and I have seen several different answers all over the net. Please help!! Thanks!
Additional Details
I know he has to file to receive it, I'm asking if he does file reporting no income would he receive it? I'm hearing yes and no and I dont know if it's worth filing now...

To qualify for the stimulus payment, you have to have filed a return with at least $3000 in qualifying income, or paid at least $1 of federal income tax (paid means that they kept, not that you got refunded). Since he did neither, then no he doesn't get a stimulus check.

From "Facts about the 2008 Stimulus Payments":
The IRS will use the 2007 tax return to determine eligibility and calculate the basic amount of the payment.

...

Individuals who pay no tax and who have less than $3,000 of qualifying income will not be eligible for the stimulus payment.

That one is Me!
nope. If you didn't pay taxes, you get no check

If you have no tax liability for 2007 you must have a minimum of $3,000 in Qualifying Income to receive a rebate. No income = no rebate. Sorry.

If he reported no income..then NO.....the minimum amount to be able to get a stimulus check is 3000.00 for 2007

Check out the IRS eligibility requirement. Your partner needs to have $3000 of qualifying income.

Are you eligible? The majority of people who file a 2007 income tax return qualify, and many who don't regularly file a tax return may qualify as well. You're eligible if you have a valid Social Security number (SSN), can't be claimed as a dependent on a tax return and have either an income tax liability or "qualifying income" of at least $3,000. Qualifying income includes any combination of earned income and certain benefits from Social Security, Veterans Affairs or Railroad Retirement. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) does not count as qualifying income for the stimulus payment. Additional information is below, and a full legal description is available in Revenue Procedure 2008-21.

Both people listed on a "married filing jointly" return must have valid SSNs to qualify for the payment — if only one has a valid SSN, neither can receive the payment (there’s an exception for members of the military who file joint returns — see below).

How much will you get? The actual amount depends on the information contained on your tax return. Eligible individuals will receive between $300 and $600. Those who are eligible and file a joint return will receive a total of between $600 and $1,200. Those with children will get an additional $300 for each qualifying child.

Did he file income tax's this year?
As long as he filed, even if he had $0.00 income he will get $300.00.
However if he did NOT file your imcome taxes this year, he will get nothing.

why would they give you money when you didn't earn anything or pay into the ss system or tax system? i don't think people who don't earn paychecks should get a stimulus check. the person had to have earned over $3000 is what i read.
