No, unless you itemized deductions and claimed your state income taxes as one of your itemized deductions. If you took the standard deduction, like most people, you don't owe any tax on your state tax refund. |

No, your refund last year was for the over payment of held taxes from that year. It has nothing to do with your income for this year |

Its impossible to tell based on the information provided. To be taxable you would have had to received a tax benefit from the refunded portion on your 2006 1040. The following requirements would have to be met for the refund to be taxable:
1. You itemized in 2006, and
2. You deducted state income tax rather than sales tax, and
3. You did not have your itemized state income tax deduction taxed for AMT purposes. |
