Do I need to pay for Canada customs if the shipping method I paid for is USPS Priority Mail International?
I'm from Canada and ordered an item from a small company located in Michigan, U.S.
My questions are:

1.) What exactly are Canadian customs? Is this some sort of random inspection they do and that if your package is chosen that you will have to pay a fee?

2.) will I need to pay any additional fees (Canada customs)?
The total amount that I paid was 170 USD$. Around 40 USD$ shipping (USPS) was part of the 170 USD$ total. Also, the total weight of my package will be 10-12 pounds.

Thanks in advance!

Canada Customs is a government department which collects GST, PST and duty on imported goods.

Every package is assessed:

Tax: GST and PST on the invoice including shipping costs.

Duty: 0-18% depending on the country of manufacture per the Canada Customs tariff (if MADE in USA, Duty = $0).
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/menu-eng.html

Fees: brokerage charge to the shipping carrier (ranges from $8 from CanadaPost to $30 for UPS)
