Do I need to report an income of $219 on taxes?
I had a job for about 2 weeks earlier this year. I made $219 at that job alone. Do I need to report this income on taxes?

I live in California. My filing status was Single, 1. I did earn more money at other jobs so the $219 is NOT gross income.

Yes, you include all income.

You received a W-2 for it? If so the IRS did also so if you leave it off you can be sure the machine will kick your return out and if you have a return coming you just added a delay.
The only real reason we have to file a return is for us to get a chance to include things the IRS don't already know, like deductions.
If you receive a statement W-2, or 1099's of which ever type the IRS receives a copy of them also. So leaving them off your return is not a question of if they'll notice it, as its already in the computer.

Yes, the IRS requires taxpayers to report WORLDWIDE income, except items specifically excluded by law. You will need to include the $219 on your tax return this year.

Wayne Z
Yes, it must be included.

If your total income for the year requires you to file a return, or if you plan to file for any reason, then you must include this job with the $219 income.

Steve
Answer the following questions:

1. Did you receive either a W-2 or 1099?
2. Were taxes withheld according to the W-2 or 1099?

If you answered yes to either question, then you need to include it because the IRS knows that you have those forms. When you file your tax return, one of the first things that they will do is match up your tax return information to the information that they already have.

Even if they send you a refund check, they can and will ask you to pay them any money due at a later date. Why go through all of that trouble just because you don't feel like filing all of the information on your tax return.

NO!
Anything less than $600 in a year you do not need to report.
