Do I still need to file my taxes, even know I did not work in 2007?
I would like to file, but I do not think I owe any money. If I file online then I have to pay to file state. Would you do?

You don't have to file. You have to have an income to file. If you haven't earned anything this year then you are good to go. Also, there is a minimum that you can earn and still not have to file. I am not sure right off hand what it is though.

ticketoride04
yes, you still need to file but you will not have to pay if you are late...and you mjay get a rebate being on poverty row

If you did not have taxable income in 2007, you don't need to file a tax return.

If you are looking for that rebate, you had to have either earned income or social security income to qualify.

I would go to www.irs.gov and print a 1040EZ or 1040.
Then I would fill it out as per instructions just to see if I owed or not. The only way you can take advantage of the stimulus plan that George Bush has promised is to file for the 2007 Tax Year. To qualify, you must have made at least $3000.

pomegranatepants
If you earned any money at all, including interest on a savings account, etc., you need to file.

where is everybody?
this isn't enough to go on. if you have no w-2s then don't file. however you may have to file if you got other things like a 1099 etc.

ellabellarocks
why would you need to file taxes for 2007...if you didnt have an income???

where can they take taxes from...or where can you get them back from???

NO WHERE!!

It's a girl due 5/11/09
No, you do not have to file if you have no W-2. However, if you want to receive the stimulus check you need to file a 1040 and just put "stimulus payment" on the top.

Its your 2007 income that determines the requirement to file.

You need to ask an accountant.

If you did not work, then probably not. Did you have any other kind of income? If so, check the IRS website for more information.
If you file online, simply print your state taxes and mail them in rather than pay to have them electronically filed. But again, no income generally means no need to file.

wartz
If you want the stimulus refund, you must file.

If the Government took no taxes out in the entire year of 2007. then you have nothing to report.
