Your age or student status doesn't matter, it depends on your income.

Income tax starts when they exceed their standard deduction--$5450 for 2008.

Yes. Taxes are withheld or taken from your paycheck, and it shows your Year to Date taxes on the paycheck stub.

If you work, you must file taxes.

Depends on your income level. My son works and he is a Senior in high school. He claims 0 during the year and 1 at the time he files his income tax return. He gets back everything he pays in because he doesn't make enough to pay in.

Yes, there is no minimum age on paying income tax. Income tax is based on the amount of income. You can visit the IRS web site at www.irs.gov and look at Publication 17. In the filing requirements of Publications 17 there is information on the amount of money someone has to earn before they are required to file a tax return.

ok, this is what happens. A high schooler will pay FICA which is the term for Social Security. You don't get to choose not too pay this one.

You will not have to pay income tax for the federal government nor will they pay state income tax. You choose exempt status on your w-2 form in the US.

Yes any income you make is taxed.

I think you have to make over 2000 to file. but when you do you will have to file as dependent. Unfortunatly you dont get much back that way.
