Do i need a paying in book to put a cheque in the bank?
I bank with Nat West and use my debit card to pay in.
I hand over the cheque/cash to the cashier and put my card in a chip&pin reader. The cashier will ask to to enter your PIN to confirm the account and it's all done.

You can usually use your card. I do it all of the time at NatWest

No you don't need a book. But you do need your sort code and account number, which "may" be on your card.
They have Giro slips in the bank you can complete!

Hi, You will need bank details but they will have payment slips inside the bank and often they will stamp a receipt for you as well.
