Yes file, you can get your federal withholding back.
But if you are young and your parents will claim you on their return, then you will check the box on Form 1040EZ that someone else can claim you.

Form 1040EZ is very easy, simple form you can fill it out yourself, or visit IRS website www.irs.gov and review the form and instructions.
You can even e-file on the IRS website www.irs.gov for free, but e-filing doesn't begin until possible Jan 16, 2009 that if you have your w2 from your employer, you can't use your last paystub to file.
Do not go to a tax preparer it will cost you more than you will receive as a refund. IRS also has VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) in your city which will file the return for free.
But don't pay anyone to file the return for you. And most of all don't forget to sign the tax return if you don't IRS will reject it.
Good Luck! Happy Filing!

For lordy's sake DON'T call HR Block!! They charge an arm and a leg for doing taxes and you didn't make enough money to even pay their fee!

Instead, go to the IRS website and file for FREE.
www.irs.gov

It doesn't matter what you made. If you want to get your taxes refunded, you'll have to file.

If you file, you'll get most of the taxes you paid, back.

Don't go to HR Block.

Did they withhold any federal or state taxes out of your checks?

Well, if you file a return, you'll get that money back again.

hairhorn
if you file you'll get money back.

You can certainly fill out your own tax return or go to a VITA or TCE site for free help. They will e-file your return for free, too.

One of the biggest free TCE providers is AARP Tax-Aide. They have sites in most communities and there is no age or income limit.

always a good idea to file taxes even if it is for 10 dollars

You actually never have to file a return if you're getting money back. Unless you paid no taxes on that 1000 or so dollars, I would assume you'd be get money back.

Not sure why you wouldn't file a return if you're getting money back.

The best is to call tax company and discuss with them. Thet will give you the best help. H&R are a very good company. So call them

Hope That Helps!

Go to H and R block and file even though its for only a little bit of money they will get you back a lot more than any other place would.... GURANTEED.... GOOD LUCK
