Do people who own businesses of their own pay taxes on their taxes?

Depends on your corporation setup. C-Corps can be subject to double taxation because your profits are after tax.
S-Corps profits go to a K-1 which goes to your personal tax return
Sole Proprietors pay as a single person

Big Brother
No, the business pays it's tax and the people paid by the business pay theirs, even the owner (who is paid by the business).

fernandinho9
If it's a sole proprietorship or joint partnership, no. Business income is treated as your income, and you're only taxed once. Any other form, double taxation :(

Depends.
Is it incorporated as a C corp--YES
as a S crop--NO
Not incorporated sole proprietorship--NO

I own 2 businesses and I pay taxes on them and pay my GST every 3 months I don't pay taxes on my taxes since I already have paid, hope this helped Grace.

Dr. O'Pinion
If a company collects tax and pays it quarterly the tax collected may show earnings accrued during the quarter. This would be considered profit on which a tax is due.
