I had a professor that talked about an issue similar to this- drugs. The interesting thing is that even if it's an illegal dealing technically you are still supposed to claim the income. For example, if they find out a drug dealer had a large amount of income from drug selling and didn't report it, they might charges them penalties and interest. Of course, most people do not divulge this information. |

They are supposed to, but since it is illegal in most places in this country except Nevada, it probably isn't a good idea. Any income is reportable per the IRS, but would a bank robber or a hit man declare his income? |
