Of course they do - the amount you get depends on your circumstances but you can get help with housing costs, council tax costs, unemployment, sickness, disability etc etc. Plus all parents are entitled to child benefit regardless of circumstance and most parents can claim child tax credits. |

As soon as countries are weaned off their Mother's milk, their only goal is to get to England, claim a council house and benefits and then tell all their mates back home how easy it was. |

In the US, "social security" is more focused on such things as pension provision, and the word "welfare" tends to be used for support for poor people. Here in the UK, "social security" tends to cover all these areas. (But in the UK, the term "welfare reform" includes pension reform) |

They do, however I applaud the steps the government are taking to stop paying social security out in cash and in exchange families will be given tokens to live off.
