Do u think its right to recieve child benefits, regardless of their income?
Additional Details do you think it is right that all parents recieve child benefits, regardless of their income?
Yes. It is universial so that no child goes without. There is a possiability that people who need it wouldn't claim it even if they are entitled (which happens often with Tax credits and Pension credit). Also the amount is so low 18.10 that it is not very costly to the state. Those on a higher income will in reality pay it back through having higher tax and national insurance contributions

God yes - people on higher incomes are contributing more to it - so in effect they're just paying their own and probably a few other peoples as well. I say let's lower taxes, reduce benefits and let everyone fend for themselves. People who are better off are working their butts off for their money and still have to spend more of their income (40% tax bracket anyone?) subsidising everyone else.
Either everyone should get it or nobody should get it.
ascoile
I don't think anyone should get benefits for having children.
However, as we do then everyone should get them, the same way everyone gets a pension regardless of income.

why not? if they have a large income the chances are they have paid more tax in the first place (unless they have a good accountant).
The somalian family next door has 6 kids, they get benefits and a house and have never worked in their life.
(no doubt the PC brigade will complain that i'm racist just for mentioning that)

According to The Late Princess Diana and the Duchess of York, claiming Child Benefit is all part of being a mother.
No i don't, it is an antiquated benefit.

i dont think anyone should get it . why should part of my wage go towards someone who got themselves pregnant? if you cant afford to raise kids , then dont have them
pin ball
i agree with ascoile. child benefit should be stopped. if you cant afford to pay for a childs keep then dont have any.

This benefit should be means tested. There should be a limit of earnings. People above this limit should not be able to receive this benefit.

no I think it should be stopped for people in the higher income brackets
