I have not yet heard about any plans for it. The sad fact is that even if the government were to try that idea this year, a lot of folks wouldn't be qualified to receive anything because the economy has been horrible and employers (especially here in Florida) are not hiring and people haven't worked and their unemployment benefits ran out a while ago so they didn't even make enough to file a tax return. In other words, the people who need it the most won't get it. If you're too poor to pay taxes then you won't see a stimulus check in your mailbox. And then the situation continues to spiral further downward. Yeah, this is a very real scenario for many families this year. Thank God for non-profit charities such as the Salvation Army. |
