Mr. Dollar Saver
Do you believe illegal immigrants should be double taxed to prove they want to be here!?
Instead of being tax free for a couple of years they should pay like us! I don't remember ever getting to be tax free, WHERE'S MY FREEBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eric, RI
No.
They should be paying taxes and working in the nation that they are legally suppose to be in.

In the short term illegal immigrants pay into the Social Security system which is almost bankrupt.

They also provide recruits for the military.

But not all of them pay taxes.

In the long term Amnesty Will Cost U.S. Taxpayers at Least $2.6 Trillion.

Tancredo, Ron Paul, and Hunter have the most conservative voting records on immigration.

http://www.betterimmigration.com/candidates/2006/prez08_gop1.html

Of these three, Ron Paul has the best chance of winning the Primary election.
Paul's campaign has almost 4 times as much money to spend as Tancredo.

Ron Paul has stated that he wants very strong borders and he was appalled that our government had taken border guards off of our borders to send them to Iraq.
http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/haman3.html

This is his six point plan:
Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.
Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.
No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.
No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.
End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.
Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.

The NAFTA Superhighway might be another significant threat to American borders.

They should come into this country legally to begin with. Think of all those who struggled and worked hard to come here and build a life legally. How is it fair to them to let others come here by breaking the law?

Addition:

Eric, RI - Amen!!

Did you mean to refer to "illegal" immigrants?

Legal immigrants should pay the same taxes as natives. That seems only fair. If we want them to contribute proportionally more to society (to counteract the fact they have not been here all their life) then this should be done in other ways, such as modifying the benefits paid.

Illegal immigrants should not be tolerated. They have broken our laws and action should be taken. But the tax system is not the best way to do this. The political asylum system exists to cater for those who are true refugees. Others should go through a proper immigration procedure if they wish to remain in the country.

Since many illegal immigrants are working for "dodgy" employers often no tax is paid.

Think of the consequences of your suggestion and how it might be expanded. How about knocking 50 off your code number every time you are caught speeding or parking illegally rather than a fixed penalty. Could raise a fair bit of cash and would be easier to collect.

Now I think about it that's not a bad idea.

Opinador
I think that they should pay like everyone else. The democracy must reach everybody, the citizenship too.

Perhaps your ancestors should have been double taxed whilst they sweated in the cotton fields. Don't judge, lest ye be judged s**t head. We were'nt the first ones here and the new immigrants won't be the last.

No. They should be rounded up and put into detention camps and forced to work on public works projects at no pay for 5 years and then deported.

I_Love_McRedneck
I don't think they should be double taxed, but they SHOULD need to provide proof that they have a stable job lined up, a place to live, and have money saved so they can actually contribute to society instead of being a drain on it.
You and I live in different countries, but that's my take on immigration.
