Do you check "Yes" to contribute $1 to the Presidential Election Fund?
on your tax returns? If EVERYONE checked "No" would they get nothing?

I am a CPA and in 7 years and hundreds of clients, I have had exactly one client specifically tell me that they wanted it contributed to the fund.

Otherwise I always check no....it's not worth the hassle to even ask and have to explain what it is and why it won't change their refund or amount due.

john
No, let them raise their own money.

Brunette Reset
yes ,yes

nope. they waste enough $ without spending mine too

unicornfarie1
No I never have. They get enough of my money the way it is. Yes if everybody check no they wouldn't get any.

girlwhoknowsitstrue
No I don't, however, based on the answers given there are an incredible number of uneducated people on this topic.

If everyone checked no, then the money wouldn't be handed out, because it's a separate budgeted line item.

The rationale behind the fund is to help fund a candidate who cannot raise sufficient funds. Some candidates eschew the amount, because there are strings attached.

BTW, I believe the dollar amount is now $3.00.

lucky
they would and do get their money from somewhere else...like people who want a candidate elected that will benefit their interests often donate millions.

I always say no....why should I give my money for the Presidential Election...they have plenty...I work hard for my money.

No but it be less a burden on our budget

DaFinger
no they get so much money from pacs and unions its not funny

Mr. Spin
Hell no.

What for? Bush didn't need a donation and he wasted our money on a war that has no WMDs.

Besides, if I filled out the LONG FORM every year, I'd get a few more dollars, so they can keep the few dollars that I don't claim by using the SHORT FORM.

Reaper King
Uhh........no........Trust me. they get enough of our money either way

Hell no. We haven't had a good president in about 50 years... why would I want to support such a pathetic system?

old_woman_84
Nope, not me. They have more money than I do.

SVW
They take it even though you say no! I don't know why they bother asking.

kindofkitty
hellllo there, had to stop myself from sayin a censorable word there. No, plain old no. There'd be a legal way around everyone checking no.

But why is the rum always gone?
Rating
No, I only check off the box to donate funds to environmental causes in my state. If everyone checked 'no', the campaigns would still generate millions of dollars though other means.
