OK - practical help. Did you get a P45 from your old employer which you gave to your new f/t job? If so, it sounds as if they have allocated your tax free allowance against your new job, which is correct. If you decide to go back to the old employer part time, you ask him for a P46, which you sign to state this is not your only job. You will then pay 22% tax on your p/t job (unless you are a higher rate taxpayer).

Chris
Yes you will. You won't have a tax allowance on your second job as you already had it on your first job. So you will pay 22% on everything you earn from the second job. Is it worth it?

You can earn about £5270.00 before tax. Which is say for arguments sake, £100 a week.

Cat2007
It probably depends on how much you earn in your full time job, but usually you do have to pay tax on both.
Get in touch with the Inland Revenue and they will advise you. Whatever you do don't just get cash in hand and try to keep it quiet - it's really not worth it

you get a tax free allowance and anything you earn above that is taxable

fengirl is correct. the revenue will allocate your personal allowances to your main job (which pays the most) so you pay less tax on it,, but the second job will have tax deducted at 22%.

over the whole year you will pay the correct amount of tax, even tho the second job will seem like ur being taxed to death.

Anne K T
it doesn't matter if you have 6 jobs you pay tax on all income over a certain amount, think its £93 or something.. the Inland revenue should be able to help they have a free number look online.

D B
you will autoimatically be taxed on the second job - it will show up on your payslip as long as you have not signed a form claiming that it is your first/only job.

hats rock
Tell the tax office, you pay tax on the combined amount you earn, let them do the calulations, get it sorted now or it will bite you on the ar** later.

Ragazza is wrong you do not pay tax on all earned income, there is a threshold amount you are allowed to earn before you are taxed.
