No you never pay taxes on childsupport collected.

jseah114
No, child support is not taxable. If you receive alimony, however, that is taxable to the recipient, and deductible to the giver, UNLESS the divorce decree specifically states that the alimony is not to be considered taxable (which also means that the giver cannot claim the deduction for it).

jljones2007
Child Support not taxable income.

crazydave
Child support is not taxable. Alimony, however is. It has to be specified as alimony in the divorce settlement to be taxable by the recipient and deductible by the payer.

No ,not on child support. You do have to pay taxes on spousal support though.

Dizney
child support is not taxable!!! Alimony (AKA Spousal support) is taxable to the recipient and a deduction to the payor.

Don't listen to "John W" or "ShendleyO" since they are WRONG.

I don't think so...I just did my taxes and there wasn't any place for it that I saw. You do have to pay taxes on alimony though.

bostonianinmo
No, child support is not taxable to the recipient. And it is not deductible by the person who pays it.

I think that you do if you claim that child as a dependent.
