As far is not paying your taxes, just remember Al Capone, they could not convict him of his main crimes, but did get him for income tax evasion.

I think that US tax levels are fine. Compared to many other countries they are quite a bit lower. My only complaint is how the money is spent. The government needs to compare and contrast prices on things. I used to work for a precision machining shop that made some parts for the military. We ended up misquoting a part for $100/each instead of $10/each(oops!) for an order of 7pcs and no one noticed until WE caught the error before invoicing. I consider that $630 tax write off on my part. As for not paying taxes, good luck with that and let me know how things go with your cell mate "Ben Dover." |

Not at all. I lived in Europe for about 10 years. The total tax bite over there was as much as double what it is here. Consider $3.00 per gallon of gasoline just for the tax -- meaning about $6.50 - $7.00 per gallon at the pump! Add sales taxes of around 20% and income taxes about 15% - 40% higher than in the US and suddenly US taxes are one of the great bargains on the planet.
Americans love to complain about high taxes. Most of them have no CLUE what high taxes REALLY are! |

On the contrary I think that they're way too low. Our government's lack of courage to ask us to pay what things actually cost has placed both them and us in the position of desperado street hustlers when it comes to the issue of raising needed revenue.
We see this phenomena happening on a daily basis .
Parents having to pay for basic school suppies that another generations taxes paid for .
The rise of State sponsored gambling as a desperate way to raise revenue w/o raising taxes.The State is not supposed to be in the sin business but desperate times require desperate measures.
All the additional fees that we now pay to government.
The list goes on but ultimatley not raising taxes to realistic levels has an extremely negative effect on society because it forces goverment to lie to us and have to hustle us-and I hate being hustled. |
