Do you think that having a career as an accountant will bore me?

ValleyViolet
not necessarily. All businesses need to keep books. Think of an environment you would love to work in. For example, you might want to work for a sports franchise or work for a television studio. Any career is exciting if you love what you are doing and pick an environment you want to be in.

Jelly
wow with the accounting stuff.

im going to be an account too

Sonic is trying to stay Retired
I'm an accountant.

But I'm sitting here doing Yahoo Answers, so what do you think?

I wouldn't do it if I were you unless you really enjoy accounting.

What colleges never teaches about accounting.

1) Tax season from Feb 1 - April 15 means 6 day work weeks with an average of 12 hours a day.

2) Auditors......pending on job to job might face the same hours at all different times of the year for weeks on end.

Do you like accounting enough to bear those hours?

Not if you like methodical and practical work then it will be enjoyable, and there are many times you will find yourself faced with good challeges.

I know people who love accounting. None of them would ever ask this question. Since you asked, I believe the answer is yes. Accounting will bore you.

Depends upon your personality. If you're a typical "Type-A" it will drive you nucking futs. If you're a "Type-B" then you'll probably settle in pretty nicely -- and possibly make a LOT of money. ;)

All of that said, if you have an interest in the work then you'll enjoy it and probably do very well. If you don't, it will drive you crazy.

My Dad was a CPA and wished me to follow in his footsteps. I did pretty well in business school but was bored to death. My brother did follow his lead and took over the practice and is making a small fortune today. He's bored stiff with it but is trapped by the lifestyle that it provides.
